On the counter below the board is the daily program log. Purple type shows fixed elements such as newscasts, sports casts and programs. Red is for changing elements such as commercials, PSAs, promos, etc. Traffic Manager Pat Watson typed the logs for each day for many years. By the mid 1980s that arduous task was taken over by a computer.
She carefully included the proper number of commercials for each customer and kept competing sponsors from having their commercials run back-to-back. The announcer on duty tried to keep the same voice from running back-to-back on recorded commercials.
