By 1978 the news department had grown to four persons. Once again the Virginia Associated Press recognized their good work and WJMA won three awards including a second straight Douglas Southall Freeman Award for public service through broadcast journalism for "Monday At One".
John DeVivi took the photograph in his studio at the DeVivi restaurant...the same place where WJMA first broadcast in 1949.
