A January 1977 article in the Orange Review said that WJMA would be replacing its old 185 foot tower with a 340 foot tower. The project also included installing a stereo FM transmitter and circularly polarized FM antenna.
The project was expected to be completed within 90 days. This ad from February 24 indicates the job was complete.
