"The Old Timer" was a popular character in the early days of WJMA. The character was created by Art Livick when he worked briefly for WTVR in Richmond in 1947. In 1948 he worked in Hagerstown, Maryland, before coming to Orange in the Fall of 1949 to help put WJMA on the air. The Old Timer is pictured in this 1950 Christmas card with WJMA advertisers Ashby Downer (l) and C.R. Butler (r).
